Dr Tegan Brierley-Sollis
Dr Tegan (she/her) is a Senior Lecturer in Policing, Criminology, and Trauma-Informed Approaches at Wrexham University. Tegan is a member of Cyfiawnder: The Social Inclusion Research Institute at Wrexham University and leads on the trauma research strand. Tegan is also part of the Trauma and ACE (TrACE) informed university project and is a member of the Trauma-Informed Wales Framework Implementation Steering Group.
Tegan has experience working and volunteering with children and adults involved in the criminal justice system, across both statutory and voluntary services. During her PhD studies, Tegan created a concept to explain trauma and trauma-informed practice in a clear and accessible way which has since been developed into an animation titled ‘Navigating the Storm’. Tegan is currently involved in various pieces of research including exploring a peer-to-peer reflective supervision model to support wellbeing and reduce the effects of vicarious trauma and secondary traumatic stress.
Tegan is also the trauma-informed convenor for the Centre for People’s Justice. The centre is led by Liverpool University, working in partnership with Glasgow, London (SAS) Sheffield, Swansea, Ulster and Wrexham universities and brings together academic, civil society, government and the creative, corporate and legal sectors. It is set to develop a cutting-edge education and training programme and an innovative range of creative, funded social justice projects which will result in a radical and novel social justice research methodology.
